I decided to go on this walk after my Dad was diagnosed with Leukaemia at the beginning of April.  I know this is for childhood Leukaemia but after reading about the illness and seeing things first hand, it has made me realise what a fantastic job Sir Ian is doing in raising funds for research etc;

My Dad is 81 years old and has been doing his own dialysis for the last seven years.  He was initially told he only had 3-6 months to live.  Because of his age and his dialysis it was thought Chemo would be out of the question, however he has had two small courses of treatment which involves an injection into his stomach twice a day for ten days - which he has been doing himself!

After going with him to the Cancer Unit, liaising with the nurses etc; it has made me realise what Leukaemia is all about and if I can help prevent anyone of any age from suffering any more than is necessary I will.
