At Young Lives vs Cancer, we help families find the strength to face whatever cancer throws at them. But every day 12 more children and young people hear the devastating news they have cancer. We’ll face it all together – but we can’t do it without you. Visit www.younglivesvscancer.org.uk

Story

Thank you for taking the time to visit my fundraising page.

I am raising vital funds for CLIC Sargent reg charity SC039857, caring for children and young adults with cancer & leukaemia and providing support to their families.  All the money raised for the charity will be coded and used in the areas needing the most financial support.

Barry Sheene was and still is a British motorcycle racing icon - even six years after he died. CLIC Sargent is the charity that his family chose in his memory and it helps families and their children who are suffering from cancer. Every 48 hours ten families are told the news they were dreading - that their child has cancer. Please help me to raise the money to help these families and children because CLIC Sargent help them after diagnosis, during treatment and when in remission.

I am the only female rider in the United Kingdom registered for the 2010 challenge along with James from Scotland and other participants from England, Ireland and Wales, so you could say i have a lot to live up to. Please encourage this Scottish female biker by donating and help CLIC Sargent raise vital funds to care for children and young adults with
cancer & leukaemia.

So please dig deep and donate now and here is an idea of how your money can help:

£1.50 puts cancer and leukaemia into words that young people can understand, in a set of 3 colourful storybooks written especially for children under 10.

£5 could buy some finger puppets which will help a CLIC-Sargent Play Specialist to explain treatment to young children in a gentle way, helping them to understand and better cope with treatment.

£10 provides parents with CLIC Sargent's 'Little Denim Book'. Many parents find this filofax indispensable as it contains useful hospital info , charts for blood counts and space to record other key facts about a child's treatment.

£20 helps buy several blood sample kits that CLIC-Sargent nurses can use on a home visit, saving a family making a round-trip to hospital for a simple blood test.

£50 means that a CLIC Sargent Social Worker can be there soon after diagnosis, talking to a family one-to-one. Every family is different, so CLIC Sargent Social Worker's assess the families individual needs and tailors their services to suit the family.

£100 means a young person who has (or had) cancer or leukaemia can go on an activity weekend.  After months in hospital it helps them restore self-confidence, regain independance and rebuild a social life.

Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: CLIC Sargent gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
