Great Glen Way · 25 May 2009

ME Research UK exists solely to fund high quality biomedical studies into the causes and treatment of ME/CFS. This illness affects approximately 250,000 people in the UK but is neither well understood nor, in many cases, properly recognised. We fund highly regarded, peer-reviewed research worldwide.

Story

Thanks for visiting my fundraising page.

Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: ME Research UK (ME Research Group For Education And Support, MERGE) gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.

So please sponsor me now!

The Great Glen Way runs from Fort William to Inverness over one or two large hills.  It is about 85 miles long and I plan to complete it on my bike in three days, with Priscilla my pink plastic duck.  She wants to be introduced to the monster en-route

I suffer from ME/CFS and recognise that there is not enough awareness of what this illness does to people, and insufficient funds to help find a cure.  Many sufferers are intelligent driven people with much to offer society and yet all this is lost.

I imagine it will take at least three months to recover from this venture, if I actually manage to complete it at all.

We managed to complete the event in the time allowed, I really am not sure how I could have done it without my helpers and the Jelly Beans.  I was inspired by all the thoughtful people who I have met and spoken to during the last few months, and kept going by the fact that I am basically stubborn through and through.  My Ipod kept me amused a lot of the time with appropriate tracks, not sure Priscilla enjoyed the singing though.

I have added a few more photos.  It is a beautiful part of the world and I enjoyed feeling vaguely normal and alive for a while.

Thanks again toeveryone who helped.
