Yorkshire Nations Cup International Polo · 27 April 2009

We are the charity of Leeds Teaching Hospitals. We support NHS staff to deliver the best care for over a million patients and their families each year. Donations fund life-saving equipment, treatments, research and home comforts. Whatever will make the biggest impact to the people who need it most.

Story

Hello and thanks for visiting my fundraising page

The event is over and what a night it was - take a look!!!!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ivqFFjk9nsg

The Beverley Raptors lost the game against the White Rose Amateurs 5-7 which wasn't too bad to say that they had a person on their team who had played polo before and was a very experienced horse rider but no hard feelings eh!  However, I was awarded the most improved Pro/Am player of both teams so I did us all proud I think!!!!

For all those who have been asking - yes I did!! Spectacularly.  I have the bruises on my right cheek to prove it!! I did so well not falling off once during training but give me an audience .....and it's a whole different matter.

We have raised £620 so far on the 'Just Giving' site and I have £1500+ in a bank account just waiting to see if we get match funding which if we do will be just fantastic. Which means over £3500 if we are successful. So a big thank you.

Background
I have been selected for a Pro-Am Horse Polo event on the 19th June.  We are the 'warm up act' for an International Game at The Yorkshire Nations Cup, Beverley.

As I can barely ride a horse this is truly a challenge for me and one I thought  was worthy of a sponsorship request.

I have decided to use this event to raise funds for The Leeds Teaching Hospitals Charitable Foundation.    My sister Janette has suffered for over 20 years with a Liver complaint that was only diagnosed recently but basically means her own body attacks her Liver.  She was given 2 weeks to live. 3 years ago my sister Janette was given the gift of life with a Liver Transplant operation which was undertaken by the experts at St James Hospital Leeds.

By using 'Just Giving' it means the Charity gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, ensures sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, is added to your donation.

This is my way of saying thank you for the fantastic work St James Hospital carried out for Janette, a wonderful sister, a great wife and a nagging mum!!!.  Please help by sponsoring me to do this crazy Horse Polo event.  If I get £1 for every bruise I get I should raise millions!!!!!

There are some links below you may find of interest including some video of me on my 5th lesson!!

Thank you so much,

Love

Lynne
