My story

Thank you so much for finding time to visit our fundraising page for Dr Kershaw's Hospice, Royton.

This year we will be raising money on behalf of our family and friends who have lost loved ones or have been affected by cancer, also to show appreciation for the wonderful care and support that the hospice provides.

On 30th August 2011, Dave cycled 1030 miles from Lands End to John O Groats, in 12 days. This is the furthest possible distance in the British Isles and he passed through some of the most stunning and remote countryside. The weather in the Scottish Highlands was awful with torrential rain and strong winds making this an even tougher challenge.  The trip was completely funded by ourselves,so every penny donated will go to Dr Kershaw's.

Previous fundraising for Dr Kershaw’s

Anybody who has done these in the past will tell you that they aren't as easy as they sound, but well worth the effort to raise lots of money for this wonderful cause!

On Saturday 11 June 2011, Lynne and Sarah completed the Midnight Walk in 3 hours and 8 minutes with no blisters either!

Sunday 4th July 2010, Dave completed the 60 mile Manchester to Blackpool Bike Ride in just under 3 and a half hours on a very windy/rainy day!

Saturday 5th June 2010, Lynne and Sarah completed the 13.1 miles Midnight walk in 3 hours 32 minutes - so  half an hour quicker than last time!

Sunday 13th December 2009, Lynne and Sarah did the 5k Santa Run at Alexandra Park,Oldham dressed as Santa Claus. Even though it was the week before Christmas it was a lovely sunny day and great fun!

Sunday 12th July 2009, Dave cycled a gruelling 60 miles on the Manchester to Blackpool Bike Ride.

Saturday June 20th 2009 at midnight, Lynne and her niece Sarah walked for 13.1 miles to raise money for this very worthwhile cause.  We arrived at the finish line at 4.03 am.

We would like to say a 'massive' thank you to everyone who has donated and thank you so much for your generosity and your good wishes.

If you are able to spare just a pound then please, please donate to this wonderful hospice, because no matter how small the amount, it will be massively appreciated and every single penny counts.

With current running costs of the hospice standing at £1.75m per year (that's around £4700 per day) - the hospice are extremely grateful of every contribution made.

Thank you so much, you are all wonderful!

Lynne, Dave and Sarah xx
