Hi!

Firstly, a big thankyou for even visiting this website! Well, this is the challenge of a lifetime! The big New York marathon on 1st Nov 2009. And no, I have never ran a marathon before! Yikes!

For those of you who know me well, you will know why I am doing this (apart from the fact that I am bonkers!) . I am doing this run for the very worthy cause, the Yorkhill Children's Foundation. A charity very close to my families heart.

Most of you will know that our beautiful daughter, Mia was born 2 years ago with a rare heart condition known as Pulmnoary Atresia with VSD ( basically, she was born with no artery between the heart and lungs). We wouldn't like to think what may have happened if it wasn't for the very talented and wonderful team at Yorkhill. Mia had life saving surgery when she was 10 days old.  Last July she had her full repair open heart surgery. For the first time, she was lovely and pink. It was a wonderful day.

Mia is the light of our lives. She has brought us so much joy and happiness. She is full of life now after her surgery. Mia is a true inspiration to me. I am very proud of my brave little girl. For that reason, this is why I want to do something way beyond my normal fund raising activities. If anyone has ever experienced their child being in hospital you will know that's it's a time where you put all your faith in the medical staff and it's a time where you feel helpless as a parent. By doing the NY marathon, I feel like I am doing my bit for Mia, the wonderful team at Yorkhill and all the other very special kids that require treatment at Yorkhill.

I running this marathon with my Aunt Susan who is also doing it for another very worthwhile cause which is close to her heart, Brain Tumour UK. If you want to sponsor Susan, here is her website:- http://www.justgiving.com/susantennent

All sponsorship raised will be going to Yorkhill. I am personally funding this trip so no worries on thinking it's going towards my travel expenses.

This run is dedicated to Mia and her special wee friends, Darach and Zara.

Thankyou so much for sponsoring me.

Lynne.

Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Yorkhill Children's Foundation gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
