Story
Thanks everyone!!
After a gruelling 4 days of climbing and trekking I reached the summit of Kilimanjaro, the Roof of Africa, on Thursday 23rd October. It was the most mentally and physically challenging experience of my life.
There were times during the final ascent that I felt like stopping and returning to camp. The two things that kept me going were firstly, my initial reason for going, to raise funds for Willen Hospice and secondly, all your support and generosity.
I would like to thank everyone for helping me to say thank you to Willen Hospice for the care they showed my Mum 8 years ago.
One final update......
I also succeeded in my quest to give up alcohol, which I did for 6 weeks before the trek. And apart from a 'small' celebratory drink when my fellow trekkers and I returned to our base camp, I've barely touched a drop since!
Thank you!
Willen Hospice funding
Willen Hospice itself needs to raise £3.4 million just to cover it's running cost, only 25% of these costs are met through the NHS (Primary Care Trusts) and that all other costs have to be met through fundraising.
Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Willen Hospice will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.
