I am joining Adele Neale, my daughter-in-law on 21st June who is taking part in this year's Basingstoke Race for Life in memory of her sister *Helen Minter. The 21st is coincidentally their 1st wedding anniversay. So passionate about supporting this cancer charitiy which helped Helen that Adele has chosen to spend this day helping others, with the full backing from my son Adam.
Helen's story in brief:
Helen Minter was diagnosed at 18 with Rhabdomyosarcoma in October 2003. This is a rare form of cancer which originates in the muscles that we control. A brilliant dancer, Helen was due to be competing in the IDTA National Championships for Freestyle dance in the month following her diagnosis, something she had worked extremely hard to achieve having only started to dance 3 years before at the age of 15. She never got to compete.
After a 3 year battle of chemotherapy, radiotherapy and surgery , coping with the surgical removal of one eye and eventually losing the sight in the other, Helen passed away peacefully and with dignity on the evening of her 21st birthday, 27th May 2006, at home. Her Dad, Mum and Adele being at her bedside.
The Chris Lucas Trust &Cancer Research are charities which we believe passionately about raising funds & awareness for. Cancer can affect anyone, no matter how young, fit or healthy.
Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Chris Lucas Trust gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
Thank you for your support......Lynn xx
