About SANDS
**********
In the UK, 17 babies a day are stillborn or die within the first twenty eight days of life; a devastating bereavement for the parents and for their family and friends.
For over 25 years, SANDS has offered support to parents and families whose lives are devastated by the death of their baby. Today, SANDS provides sensitive and practical support for over 4,000 families every year through a national helpline, a UK network of groups run by bereaved parents, support leaflets, publications and a website (www.uk-sands.org). SANDS also continues to play a key role in helping health professionals to improve the quality of care provided to bereaved parents. The rise in SANDS public profile has led to a rapid increase in demand for SANDS services. The much needed funds that could be raised by my taking part in the London 10k in July will help to respond to that need. So please sponsor me now! Many thanks for your support. 1st July ****** Just a quick update before I head off down to London. Thank you very much to all those of you that have sponsored me online so far - you're all very modest putting yourselves forward as anonymous! To keep you in the loop I also have about £130 in cash and cheque donations so doing really, really well, thank you all. All I need to do now is run 10 kilometers... 9th July ****** Hello again! Well, I have just managed to recover enough to update you on last week! No, I jest, last sunday went well although my time wasn't all that great unfortunately (Al just slowed me down like you wouldn't believe ;-)) We completed the course in 1 hour 24 and thankfully were nowhere near last so my pride wasn't too battered. Money is still coming in from various different sources and at the last count was just over £400 which is fantastic so thank you all once again. I have six weeks to keep collecting either on the webpage which will stay open until then or by cheque etc so if anyone who hasn't donated yet has some extra cash burning a hole in their pocket, you know where to send it. Thank you once again for the brilliant effort you have all made with your sponsorship.
