Story
It has been harder to focus this year as sadly we lost Dad at the end of March. He had his lovely smile and wise words right up to the end of his life. Then, unexpectedly his younger brother died a couply of months later. A brain tumour was found, operated on and after an initial good recovery he relapsed and passed away. We all seem to have lost friends and loved ones from this terrible and unrelenting disease that for a while my small effort (including a long run!) seemed pointless.
However if we all had such thoughts, the invaluable support that is offered so unconditionally might not be there. Hence - I am running again and hoping to chop a minute a mile off last years time!
I am hopefully doing it again with Mandy but she is doing the Cleveland Way Run, a mere 110 miles the week before! In case of mishaps ie sprain ankles etc she has prepared me for doing it 'solo' - quite a scary thought for me!
I am also hoping to raise money for St Teresa's Hospice, Darlington on Mandy's behalf so if you would prefer to donate to this wonderful cause please go to her web page - www.justgiving.com/mandy3.
Your support would be absolutely great - lets all try to make a difference!
Post Race Up-date!
Mandy completed the Hardmoors Run! She finished in 31 hours 39 minuts - 2nd lady and 7th overall!
Mandy managed to run with me even with a toe nail hanging off. She made my day and this year's time was 2 hours 48 mins!
Thank you all so much for your support!
