I have now signed up again for Manchester Shine May 1st 2011 ( a half marathon walk through the city at night ) and Manchester 10k 15th May 2011!!!!!!
We will be heading to the Damaraland region of Namibia, on the fringes of the Namib Desert. Here we will work for eleven days to renovate the Tubusis Primary School, which has 275 learners, and is situated to the immediate west of the Erongo mountain range and about 50km to the north of the small town of Karibib.
Tubusis Primary School consists of 8 classrooms, plus a pre-primary rooms and a library. Although the school buildings are in reasonably good shape structurally, they are in need of general need of repairs, and the building that houses the pre-primary room and the library stands separately to the rest of the school, and is in a really bad condition.
The work carried out at the school by the Bobby Moore Fund will include:
Renovation of the pre-primary classroom and library which are in a poor condition with broken ceilings, empty window panes, a lack of furniture and a dire lack of books
Renovation of the girls’ hostel, including replacing broken basins and cisterns
Building sports facilities, including a football field
This will be my 7th project for The Bobby Moore Fund and all of them are dedicated to my wonderful Dad who sadly died of cancer in 2002. My promise to him was to raise as much money as possible for Cancer Research.......................so here I am yet again!!
I will also be taking part in Manchester Shine April 17th 2010 and Cardiff Shine 25th Sept 2010, a 26 mile walk through the city at night and Cardiff half marathon in October.
