Two teams and two individuals from Mace will  be racing to raise funds for the Birmingham Children’s Hospital “Kidney Kids Appeal.” The renal unit at the BCH is recognised as a leading centre and delivers the highest standards of care every day. However, the renal unit is currently housed in a 1960s annex that is cramped, dark and has been formally assessed as unfit for clinical purpose. As stated by a parent whose child received a kidney transplant:

“My experiences of the Renal Unit are of two extremes, the first being complete satisfaction and confidence in all the staff, and the other being anger at the poor state of the facilities.”
