Macy passed away peacefully on 4th March 2008. She was born with Trisomy 13 (also known as Patau Syndrome), please research this rare condition and learn all about it. Macy put up a massive fight in her little life proving doctors wrong many times. Amongst her many other problems, Macy was blind, deaf and had a heart defect yet she still managed to spend that precious time with her family, despite doctors saying she wouldn't survive her first night. She and her family are inspirational.
Macy has made a huge impact on people that knew her and people that didn't know her. Her passing has saddened so many people, here and abroad.
This page has been set up to raise funds in her memory, for Make A Wish Foundation as chosen by Macy's mum Katrina.

Trisomy 13 (also known as Patau Syndrome) is a chromosomal abnormality, a syndrome in which a patient has an additional chromosome 13 due to a non-disjunction of chromosomes during meiosis.
Most cases of Patau's syndrome result from trisomy 13, which means each cell in the body has three copies of chromosome 13 instead of the usual two copies. Most cases of Patau syndrome are not inherited, but occur as random events during the formation of reproductive cells (eggs and sperm).
Of those embryos that do survive to gestation and subsequent birth, common anomalies include:- mental & motor retardation
- polydactyly (extra digits)
- microcephaly
- low-set ears
- holoprosencephaly (failure of the forebrain to divide properly)
- heart defects
- structural eye defects
- cleft palate or hare lip
- meningomyelocele (a spinal defect)
- omphalocele (abdominal defect)
- abnormal genitalia
- abnormal palm pattern
- overlapping of fingers over thumb.
- cutis aplasia (missing portion of the skin/hair)
- prominent heel
