Hello, everyone, I am Maddie Harris, a fourteen-year-old girl from Oxfordshire. Please take the time to read my page carefully and I would be so grateful if you would consider sponsoring me. In order to raise money for Children's Brain Tumour Research, I will be riding the length of the Ridgeway. The Ridgeway is a 137 kilometre long road, stretching from Ivinghoe Beacon in Buckinghamshire to Avebury in Wiltshire. On average I will cover, 48 kilometres each day, resting at farms and campsites en route. The reason, I have decided to take up this challenge is because, recently my three-year-old brother, Robert, was diagnosed with a brain tumour. It is hard when children this young are hit with a task so huge. Please donate to help Children's Brain Tumour Research develop and improve methods with which they can aid my brother and others like him. Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Children's Brain Tumour Research gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation. Thank-you for any donations you make, Maddie Harris xxx My heartfelt thanks to everyone who has shown such huge generosity. I am pleased to say you have helped me in reaching my original target of £1000 and my revised targets of £1500, and £2000. I have now increased it to £2500. The Childrens Brain Tumour Research Centre really do need every penny they can get. Thanks so much! I did it! I finished the Ridgeway on Thursday 28th, feeling very tired but so glad i had finally done it! It was such an amazing trip, with not evrything going according to plan! On our first day, everything was going well until we took a 10 mile detour taking us in completely the wrong direction, meaning we ended up four hours late! Our second day was a bit of a pickle due to the fact that one of my friends I was doing the ride with, managed to have a horse with loose shoes, meaning the day didnt start until half past one, when a second horse was brought to her! Also once we had got going, it wasnt long until my horse cast a shoe, meaning he went mildly lame! However we got him home and had an emergency farrier stop in the morning! So thanks so much to our farrier who helped us continue! Our third day went fairly well with only a few sore backs on the horses and a couple of sores on their legs, but we completed the day on time and without getting lost!! And our last day went pretty smoothly too, reaching the top on Overton Hill, to be met by the kind support of friends and family! A massive thanks to all our parents who transported us and organized our B an B's and provided us with delicious lunches! And a huge thank-you to all of you who donated as much as you did! It was certainly more than excpected and I really appreciated it! Thanks again, Maddie x x x
