ChildLine is the UK's free and confidential, 24 hour helpline for children in distress or danger. Trained volunteer counsellors comfort, advise, support and protect children and young people who may feel they have nowhere else to turn. Children call ChildLine about a wide range of problems, but the most common problems are abuse (both sexual and physical), bullying, serious family tensions, worries about friends' welfare and teenage pregnancy. Children and young people can call ChildLine about anything – no problem is too big or too small. ChildLine is a service provided by the NSPCC

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page. We must be mad.......

Between us we will be cycling this years 'St Andrews Madsummer's Dash', for Childline Scotland, cycling in a relay from the Houses of Parliament in London back to St Andrews in Scotland - a distance of 439 miles if we take the right route! On this two day journey we will be supported by two safety vehicles.

This years 'Childline Team' is made up of David Goadby, James Brown, Seonaid Turnbull, Tim Griffiths, Graham Weller, Pallavi Sharma, Nic Gray and James Hopperton.

It will definitely be fun - if the cycling isn't challenging enough then sitting in a safety vehicle for nearly 2 days with the team will be a big challenge in itself.....

This years event will begin as Big Ben strikes 10pm on Wednesday 15th June. At this time 6 teams of 6 people will start cycling from the Houses of Parliament. Sir Menzies Campbell, MP and ex Olympic athelete, plans to start the event.

All team members, including the safety drivers, have donated their time. All the costs of the event have been covered by the teams themselves and the St Andrews Midsummer's Ball who have organised this event.

Each team will have at least one cyclist riding at any one time all the way back to St Andrews. It will be a long ride, but worth every moment, as we all benefit our teams chosen Scottish Children's charity Childline.

For more information please visit www.midsummersball.com/mad-dash.htm

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure.
