Story

Asalam/ Peace and Shalom people,

Warmest greetings to all... Thank you for visiting my fundraising page. Please dig deep and sponsor me online.

Let me tell you a little about this journal I’m reading at the moment – Becker and Murphy’s theory of rational addiction. Though most economic theory is predicted on rational behaviour, and addiction seems in essence irrational. Ladies and gentlemen it seems that, addiction is rational. How? Well “Addicts chose their poison despite knowing that it is habit-forming and dangerous and they do so because they expect the highs o outweigh the lows.”

If you know Magda Ali by now, you know that she has two deep rooted weaknesses: chocolate— and facebook — the number one procrastination facilitator. I don’t do anything remotely “addictive” in excess, except chocolate-ize and facebook myself to sleep. It may seem bizarre to compare facebook & chocolate addiction to say a drug addiction but Becker and Murphy have said that a separate theory is not necessary since rational choice theory can explain a wide variety of addictive behaviour, and thus the difference is not “of kind but of degree.”

Okay enough about Becker and Murphy, what’s the solution?

Solution = cold turkey, conquer the addiction and face the world clean. Sadly I don’t have it in me. I’ve tried real hard.

1) How’s am I going  give up chocolate?

2) How am I going to give up facebook?

By God, there’s a solution. The one thing that I am in no doubt is that if a person’s life rested on this, I wouldn’t think twice about conquering this addiction. Guys help me be rational. Imagine saving lives through this insignificant sacrifice.

So here’s the catch, I will give up facebook for a whole month, for His sake, and for the sake of raising at least £200 for charity. Wednesday the 23th of December is when I will commence the months fast from Facebook and chocolate. 23th January will be the day I break my fast. And If y’all help me raise over £500 I will stretch it to another month. J

The money is all for charity— the orphans, homeless, and those in need. Please contribute towards this worthy cause, circulate to all your contacts and encourage them to donate. SPONSOR ME PEOPLE. Ps no more of my lame status updates, come on, you can’t bargain with that now? Come on facebook and chocolate addicts, give us some moral support, save the orphans and give a little of yourself.

Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Islamic Relief gets your money faster and, if you’re a taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.

So please sponsor me now!
