Stephanie Moore MBE set up the Bobby Moore Fund in partnership with Cancer Research UK, following the death of her husband, Bobby Moore, from bowel cancer. The Bobby Moore Fund is now a leader in the fight against bowel cancer, funding research that’s helping more people to survive than ever before.

Story

On behalf of the Bobby Moore Fund for Cancer Research UK thank you for visiting my fundraising page. Please dig deep and sponsor me online.

My main incentive for running this years Marathon is in memory of a great friend of both myself and many who i work with, his name is John Lynch and he sadley passed away from bowel cancer.

John was a cracking bloke who lived for his family who we never stopped discussing, he always had a smile on his face and a shoulder for you to cry on if needed, he would give his last to make sure that his friends and family were okay.

My lasting impression of John was of him running around our office as we watched Johnnie Wilkinson score a drop goal in the last few seconds of the rugby world cup, John screamed the place down, jumping and shouting enough to be heard in Birmingham.

He was buzzing for weeks after that and we must have laughed about it for much longer and still do to this day.

As well as this page i have also raised £1550 for the Eliminate Leaukemia Fund who i am also running London for, beating cancer is very close to my heart and with your help it may not be long before a cure can be found, we will at some point ALL have some form of contact with cancer so please don't wait until you know a person affected, ACT NOW!

I know we all get loads of e mails and requests for sponsership but if we all gave just one pound, it may make all the differance.

Just an update, the run was as expected and horrible, knees went yet again at the 19-20 mile point and i had to walk run for the last 6 plus miles, finished in 5 hours 9 mins which is an hour longer than expected and trained for as well as the slowest i have done but my little legs just refused to work even though my heart and lungs were fine. A MASSIVE THANK YOU FOR THE GENEROUS SPONSERSHIP, IN TOTAL I'M LOOKING AT ABOUT £2000 BETWEEN THE TWO CHARITIES. This was my 4th and last marathon but even though it was slow i think i went out with a bang! John if you have the internet in heaven thanks to both you and my step dad for getting me through some horrible pain, god bless mate. Sean
