YES ITS TRUE....I'M RUNNING THE LONDON MARATHON......!
I can think of many reasons why I wouldn't run a Marathon and to be honest I've been using all these excuses for the last 20 years or so. Why now I hear you ask? I don't know is the truthful answer, but here's what I do know. Running the Great North Run (half marathon) last year was the hardest thing I've ever done. I can't even imagine, as I staggered accross the finish line in South Shields last September, that in essence I would have had to turn round and run back to the beginning! The thought scares me....but alas 26.2 miles it is and 26.2 miles I will run. In any case its in my home town of London (innit) and its for such a great cause.....
I have decided to run on behalf of The Lords Taverners as they are a charity that provides so many sporting opportunities to children with special needs. When I think back to my younger years at school, I had many chances to try out loads of different sports. Football, Rugby, Cricket to name but a few. To be perfectly honest I find it difficult to imagine life without those experiences. Unfortunately, some children never get a chance to experience what we take for granted. The Lords Taverners provides sporting opportunities and experiences for thousands of children around the UK.
So all that I ask you to do is dig deep in those pockets. Take my example and make no further excuses. Donate as much as you can afford and then a little bit more...
I thank you all.....
