Story
Thomas Arnett is 13 years old and has cerebral palsy. He lives in York with his brother Jack, sister Lauren and lovely Mum Adele, who also happens to be one of my best friends.Thomas's stepdad, Andrew is currently serving his country in Afghanistan.
Because of Thomas's condition, he is unable to walk and uses a wheelchair. I am yet to hear him moan about this. Thomas has a nice life, goes to school and has a lovely family and friends. He has never been able to walk and it was never thought it would be possible. However, changes in medical procedures are massive and now Thomas has a chance to be able to walk independently.
Thomas would benefit massively from an operation called Selective Dorsal Rhizotomy, which at the moment cannot be funded by our local PCT. Adele works locally, but has a great relationship with the hospital in Bristol, where the proposed operation would be carried out.
This operation would change his life - he is a big personality, but we want him to stand tall.
We have a committe in place and have many, many events arranged locally to fund this cause, along with the backing of the local Press and the local Army.
