My story

 

Thanks for visiting my fundraising page.

I'm raising money and hopefully awareness, tolerance and understanding of Obsessive Compulsive Disorder by paragliding off the 6550ft Babadag (Father Mountain) in Turkey! It takes 45 mins to 'fly' down and apparently the drive up can be even scarier! Until recently OCD was thought to be a psychological condition, but brain scans have shown there is a biochemical imbalance in the brains of those who suffer OCD.

It is said that up to 1 in 30 people suffer some level of OCD but it only requires treatment if it begins to seriously impact on your life. Serious sufferers can be house-bound and therefore have given up work and many things which used to bring them pleasure. OCD minds never stop buzzing trying to deal with the issue and not give in to the compulsion to wash, count, retrace steps etc., the anxiety can be incredible and exhausting.
