RNLI volunteer lifeboat crews provide a 24-hour search and rescue service all around the UK and Ireland, while lifeguards keep a careful watch on the UK’s busiest beaches. RNLI lifesaving and drowning prevention depend on supporter fundraising and the generous donations that you and others give.

Several years ago I was privileged to watch our nephew as part of an RNLI crew, rescue two sailors from the Solway Firth. These guys from the RNLI go out in all weathers to save lives at sea. their dedication is amazing. They are all volunteers and risk life and limb each time they get called out. I think that the least we can do is provide them with the equipment needed to do the job and get them home safe.

I am looking at this not only from our family perspective but also the fact that each crew member has a family too that they want to get home to.

How many reading this would get out of bed in the middle of the night, in the middle of winter to go out to sea in  the middle of a storm.
