HELP A POOR CHILD is a non-profit, voluntary organisation, founded in 1980, to provide assistance to children and families struggling in terrible poverty. Today, through public support, it helps children in different parts of Asia and Africa. With your help, it can continue to help poor children grow up healthy, educated and living near to normal lives.

Story

Thanks to all for the donations which exceeded any expectation I set out with.  The school needs funding year on year, so I am closing down the 2013 page whilst still riding off the miles and will open next year's page shortly.  Next year is a double whammy year - two major events, two charities, two targets.  Watch this space.  Thank you all again...

Newcastle to London - 300 miles in 24 hours.  2200 miles either side of this event as training.  A total of 2500 miles to raise money to fund a school built and run by the excellent 'Help a Poor Child' (HAPC) charity.

I've always thought charity starts at home but when you see what this charity can do, with so little, as their admin costs are all but zero, it made me realise I can make a difference.

Not putting down the really big charities, or events like Red Nose Day, where your fiver or tenner is a small drop in the massive ocean of donations, with HAPC you can really make that difference. Just £12 will fund a teacher for a month, giving 30+ kids a chance of education - to feel they can become someone / something they could only have dreamed of before and break out of the cycle of poverty they are currently in.
