My story

Hey everybody......

This year i will be trying to break the Guinness World Record for the 'World's longest team endurance drumathon'......... sounds crazy right? well let me explain what i have to do.

A team of 18 drummers including me will be drumming for 64 HOURS!! to beat the previous record of 60 hours, this is not a relay event and so all the drummers will be playing at the same time for the full 64 hours. We will be playing to different styles of music and after every hour of continuous playing we are allowed a 5 minute break and then straight back to the drum kit for more drumming!!!

This is going to be a really difficult event, and will be mentally and physically challenging, the hardest part being awake for just under 3 days as well as having to deal with swollen wrists fingers knees, and headaches, but putting all that aside the more important aspect is that we are doing this to raise money for Nexus trust (www.nexustrust.co.uk) which rely heavily on donations to be able to continue training and equipping young musicians

The event will start in the early hours of sunday morning the 3rd of may and will finish late tuesday night (5th of may) or early wednesday morning (6th of may).

I would really appreciate it if you would sponsor me as this is a once in a life time opportunity and failure is not really an option for me, i want to raise as much money as possible to give this event everything i have, and to know that with others supporting me I can make a difference.

Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It's also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Nexus Trust gets your money faster and, if you're a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.

It doesn't matter how much you give, but if everyone gives something it all adds up and together we will be able to reach the fundraising target

Thankyou for reading my page and I hope you will be able to sponsor me

14/04/2009 - Wow im completely overwhelmed by all your generosity thankyou so much for supporting me please send me your emails so i can keep you updated on the progress of the drumathon............its amazing that so many people have donated!!!

27/05/2009 - hey everyone sorry this is late but i haven't got anyones emails......so the drumathon went really well the team broke the record and set a new one at 66 hours!!!! unfortunately i only managed to drum for 44 hours I started to get delirious and didn't really know where i was or what was going on, it was really scary, and took me a couple of days to recover. the sponsors were for me to break the record and i have told everyone who sponsored me offline that they can donate if they want to but i am not collecting any sponsors in as i didn't complete the record, if any of you who have donated on line would like to withdraw you sponsor please email me at jzrmalik@googlemail.com and i will reimburse you. Thankyou so much for all your support and prayers.
