Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

We are Andrew Seymour of APS Architectural Joinery Ltd and James Mason of the Little Upholstery Shoppe and we are raising money for Cancer Research UK by driving a banger from Manchester to Monaco in the Crumball Rally Grand Prix 2012.

The rally officially starts on the 10th May in Boulogne France, however we have to get to the starting line in the first place, so in total we will be driving over 1000 miles in 4 days, all in an 17 year old Volvo dressed as Mario Bros!!

From our work place in Radcliffe we will be travelling to Boulogne in France in time for the start of the rally.

Setting off from Boulogne, we will head into the Champagne country stopping by at the historic (and now partly restored) racing circuit in Reims before heading east to the medieval cobbled streets of Colmar, just south of Strasbourg, for our first night stop over.

From Colmar we head in to Switzerland, with its stunning passes and sweeping alpine roads, and down the other side into Italy and Lake Como.

Our third day itinerary takes us along the lakes to Monza before heading southwards towards Nice for a  Saturday night stay there. That's not the end of the event because on Sunday we'll be heading into Monte Carlo to watch the Monaco historic Grand Prix.

We have chosen to support Cancer Research UK not only because it is a charity close to our hearts personally but because cancer causes more untimely deaths than any other disease, with one in three of us developing it at some point in our lives.

With their groundbreaking work Cancer Research has saved millions of lives. In the last 40 years the survival rates have doubled and Cancer Research have been at the heart of this progress.  They are funded entirely by the public and without this help they would no longer be able to carry out their life saving work.  So please dig as deep as you can and help us reach our £5000 target to help them carrying on saving lives!!

All the money raised will be going directly to Cancer Research UK.  APS Architectural Joinery Ltd & The Little Upholstery Shoppe are funding all costs and expenses.

****************************UPDATE******************************

We are pleased to announce that the challenge was completed successfully!! The old Volvo (or the Green Goddess as we affectionately nicknamed her) did us proud! She never missed a beat! We were very sad to see her go when we reluctantly sent her to the scrap yard. Thank you so much to all the people who sponsored us and followed our journey.  We have been very moved by all the support.  This page will remain open for donations until August 2012.  Thanks once again.  Andrew and James.
