2015 - my year of Challenges · 26 September 2015

We're dedicated to beating blood cancer. We fund research and support those affected. Since 1960, we've invested over £500 million in blood cancer research, transforming treatments and saving lives. The day we beat blood cancer is now in sight and our researchers are determined to finish the job.

Story

18th April 2015 Swimathon Richmond Pool 1.5km (60 lengths)

19th June 2015 Coast to Coast Cycle Workington to Hartlepool approx 160 miles in three days.

26th September 2015 Brownlee Triathlon (Relay Team) Harewood House, 750m swim in the lake.

I am currently in gruelling training for these three challenges. I'm a VERY unfit, busy, working mum of two who hasn't seen the inside of a gym for years I've never swum in open water before and I don't really ride a bike.

So why am I doing this?

I was my husband's plus one to the Wensleydale branch of Leukaemia and Lymphoma Research's presentation evening in Autumn 2014. I know two local families who have been affected by blood cancers and was inspired on that evening to join the many local people who have joined together to raise money for this charity.

So far, I'm in the gym 4 days a week following a tailored programme, my road bike has been delivered and I've been on a couple of trial rides, and I'm in the pool every Friday night being coached by Darcy with Richmond Dales Amateur Swimming Club. (alongside the triathlon swim training who I have to say look scarily fast!) Open water training will start in May when I am told the water at Ellerton Lake will be warmer.

If you could make a donation however small or large I would be very grateful. It's your donations that will keep me going for the next 8 months.
