Thank you for visiting my fundraising page. Please dig deep and sponsor me online. THIS IS MY FIRST ATTEMPT AT FUND RAISING - please help. I am doing this 100km run through parts of Mexico in memory of my dear uncle, who lived with this cruel disease for 18 months with dignity.
To have known this big man, with the larger than life personality, and possibly the biggest heart in the whole world ever, when he was fit and healthy and then to watch his demise through to full nursing care, given solely by his devoted wife, near beggars belief. The truely harrowing spectacle of watching your loved one suffer at the hands of this disease is something that i hope none of you, as readers of my page have to endure. I am no athlete. I have no experience of running long distances over several days. I have no fund raising experience on this sort of scale. But i do have an absolute belief that this most hateful of diseases needs a cure, a vaccine or a treatment and if my running for a while, totally out of my league and looking ridiculous can help in any way at all - I'm game. March 14th - at the Hydro - WHAT A NIGHT! A ball was had by all who atended and a phenomenal amount of money was raised for this charity - £2152 in total - les all of the expenses and we still came out at over £1600!! Just amazing - considering i'm a rank amateur at this fund raising game. I have to say - there was some very dodgy dance floor moves going on - all in a good cause. THANK YOU for attending or buying raffle tickets, or guessing eggs in a jar.
