Story
Thank you for taking the time to visit my fundraising page.
The Event
I loves a challenge, me, and as luck would have it, I've managed to secure a Golden Bond place in the Flora London Marathon 2007. As many of you know, my participation in the FLM is the second of three events that I will be running in, having successfully completed the 10 mile BUPA Great South Run in October 2006.
The Charity
The motor neurone diseases (MND) are a group of progressive neurological disorders that destroy motor neurones, the cells that control voluntary muscle activity such as speaking, walking, breathing, and swallowing.
So why the Motor Neurone Disease Association? Well, my reasons for running for the MNDA are personal - my mother Nita died of MND in 1995. The MNDA provided equipment, help and support during my mother's illness. This was invaluable, however, she is and was not alone; there are an increasing number of people who are suffering from MND and other similar degenerative diseases. Nita was a wonderful, courageous and loving wife and mother. It is through her strength and courage that I will endeavour to complete this testing challenge.
Your help
My aim is to run the Marathon in under 4 hours 30 minutes so perhaps you could give me a cheeky bonus for every minute I finish below that!!
Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Motor Neurone Disease Association will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.
Many thanks for your support.
