Story

Sponsor my "Marathon Anniversary Chat" and help fund finding the cure for Huntington's Disease!

I run an online support club for people affected by Huntington's Disease which has over 500 members worldwide. On 20th April 2005 the club celebrates its 5th Anniversary of having been established at its current location.

We hold scheduled chats twice a week where members can meet and chat in real time with others who truly understand the devastation that Huntington's brings to families. The chat room is available 24/7 and many members also chat using instant messaging. It is no exaggeration to say that this has prevented some suicides as people have been available when needed, and, as a result, some members have genuinely been talked out of taking their own life.

I am holding a special "Anniversary Chat" on 20th April 2005 and am hoping to be present in the chat room for the majority of the hours that I am awake that day - maximum 18 hours! I am encouraging as many members as possible to attend, even if just to say hello. [Note added 21st April: The chat went well and lasted for 18 hours 6 minutes!]

What all the members want is the cure for Huntington's Disease and current research is showing great promise. Please would you sponsor my "Marathon Anniversary Chat" by donating whatever you can afford to the Huntington's Disease Association? Your money could help to make this the last generation to face the full devastating effects of this inherited and inevitably fatal disease which robs sufferers of their ability to think, walk, talk and eat. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
