Wessex Medical research is an independent multi-disease medical research charity funding critical research aimed at tackling the underlying causes of ill health in our community. We are currently funding research into a wide range of diseases such as Alzheimer's disease, breast cancer, prostate camcer, depressive illness, diabetes, heart disease, stroke, osteoporsis and childhood afflictions, particularly child brain injury.

Story

Thank you for visiting the Gift of Sight fundraising page. Please dig deep and sponsor Professor Andrew Lotery and Mr Chris Canning online. All money raised from sponsorship will go towards funding the Gift of Sight Research Centre at Southampton General Hospital Eye Unit. Our research team, led by Professor Lotery, is presently working hard to try and find a cure for Age-related Macular Degeneration (AMD). This is the commonest cause of blindness and affects 1 in 3 elderly people in the UK today.

Please help if you can - your sponsorship will help to ensure the survival of this world-class eye research centre in Southampton and we hope will find a cure for AMD.

Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor the Gift of Sight: Hope will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.

So please sponsor us now!

Many thanks for your support.
