On 13th April 2008, I became the first pint of Hook Norton Beer to complete the Flora London Marathon, to raise money for Leukaemia Research. I have been training hard for this since January and you can read the full story on my website - www.marathonpint.co.uk To make up for my lack of legs, I had a running partner - Gill Begnor. Several people sponsored her not to drink me before she crossed the finish line, for which I was extremely grateful because there were several points between water stations on the way round when I thought I was history. Crossing that finishing line was, without a doubt, the greatest moment of my life - I was a very proud pint!! 40 years ago, a child with Leukaemia was unlikely to live. Now 8 out of 10 children survive but we're not stopping until that's 10 out of 10. Many people in the village of Hook Norton have been touched by leukaemia and local residents and the brewery have raised over £196,000 for the charity in the last 22 years. The sponsorship I have received for the London Marathon has taken this total over £200,000 and the thought of this kept me going during some of the low points of the run - like when we got overtaken by a Cornish pasty We are thrilled to have exceeded our target of £4000 but every penny donated will help save more lives so please give generously.
