Mental health problems are a widespread, yet often unacknowledged, aspect of modern day life. Many people don't realise quite how common some mental health issues are, such as depression. According to some figures, up to one hundred million people are currently suffering from depression. But depression isn't the only mental health issue that currently faces us: bipolar, anxiety, anger, eating disorders, loneliness, OCD, paranoia, post-natal depression, schizophrenia and stress are just a few of the issues that most people don't realise can turn someone's life upside down.
Poor mental health affects every part of your life, and can be hugely destructive. It can destroy families, alienate friends and cause physical harm. If you don't accept yourself for who you are, then you are always frightened of rejection, and you will keep yourself 'hidden' from others.
No one deserves to feel like that. Every person is intrinsically valuable and no one should ever feel worthless, alone or hated. Good mental wellbeing is a right that everyone deserves. This is why I really support the work of Mind. I think it is a fantastic charity. I'm really proud that Mind is challenging this issue, and that's why I want to support their work.
Any donation will be really helpful. It will go towards helping someone trying to face a mental health issue, so please do show your support!
