We empower children through education to lift them & their community from poverty

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Those of you who know me, know me as a very happily married man, with two children, who have everything they need. Thankfully, they have the most important things in life; love, food, water and an education.

I was all set to be climbing Mount Kilimanjaro in October this year on behalf of Giving Africa (www.givingafrica.org) , to raise much needed funds for children who unfortunately, aren't so lucky.

After returning from a recent skiing trip in February, I experienced chronic sinusitis. I do suffer from sinus pain, but never on this scale before. I went to see a specialist, and he said this was more likely because I had just spent the week at 3000ft altitude. I then mentioned that in October, I am climbing Mount Kilimanjaro, which is 6x more the altitude (18000ft) than that of the French Alps. The specialist was obviously extremely concerned about the trip, and after many talks , unfortunately, I have had to reluctantly pull out of the climb. However, the efforts and generosity of the people who have so far donated will not go to waste! In fact, I have already set myself a new challenge, which for me is going to really test my nerve and character. I am not a fan of heights (in fact I can't stand them), so thought what better way to really make your donations well spent, than to jump out of a perfectly good plane?  For someone who really cannot handle heights, I can guarantee that even with 100% fear, I will throw myself out of the plane doorway, in aid of this great cause.

My jump is taking place on June 12th this year, in Salisbury, with 'South Coast Skydives'. Thank you once again for those that have already donated - you're superstars!

The people in Burkina Faso are some of the unluckiest people on the planet. Burkina Faso is one of the least developed and poverty stricken countries of the world. On average, 300,000 children die every year in Burkina Faso. This is the least literate country in the world. There is a direct correlation between education and getting out of poverty. This is why it is so critical that we build more and more schools in Burkina Faso. For every one child educated, 12 people can be lifted out of poverty.

Please, please donate as much as you can. I know I can rely on my family and friends to donate, but it would also be fantastic to see some names on the donor page that I don't recognise, due to you guys spreading the word about this vital cause.

Thank you all so much.

Very best wishes,

Marc......
