March for Hope · 1 August 2009

The Philemon Foundation's aim is to break chains and restore lives. It does this by rehabilitating prisoners and former prisoners in Kenya, providing food, shelter, counselling, community, training and employment with the ultimate goal of reintegration into society. Philemon works with Government and civil society groups, local churches and international partners.

Story

Trustees and supporters of Philemon UK will be joining together in a March for Hope to help Philemon Kenya share God's love and concern with prisoners and ex-prisoners in Kenya.

We will start outside Wormwood Scrubs Prison in Shepherd's Bush at 10.30am and  "frog-march" together to Wandsworth Prison, where we will finish - and celebrate! The total distance is 6.9 miles, so it should take about 3 hours. We will be wearing prisoner outfits and be attached via a rope.

The Need

Philemon Kenya's Half Way Home for the rehabilitation of ex-prisoners is full and Philemon Kenya continues to have the privilege of influencing Government and policy makers on prison reform at the highest levels.

However, this work would not be possible without your generous help and support. In particular, Philemon Kenya have identified a pressing need for a ministry van to transport the Philemon Team from place to place, to save money and to use as a means of generating income and training ex-prisoners. Please help us to raise the funds for the ministry van and for the Philemon work generally.

Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor us: Philemon Ministries UK gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
