Story

So far I have three events confirmed for 2011 which should take me close to completing my full 72 miles...

Great North Swim - Sunday 19th June - Lake Windermere

Great North Run - Sunday 18th September - Tyne & Wear

Berlin Marathon - Sunday 25th September - Germany

Collectively i'll be covering just under 41 miles from these three events, with 40 miles being covered in the space of a week.

--- UPDATE ---

So Dublin is but a distant memory now, and my aches and pains are all gone. So roll on 2011's challenges. First up, is the Berlin Marathon on the 25th September. I'm also hoping to take part in the Great North Run the week before it in Sunderland & Newcastle (I've applied for a place in the ballot, so fingers crossed). More events to add, i'm aiming for Berlin to be my final event so to complete my full 73 miles.

Still got a long, long way to go to help me hit my target, so please dontate whatever you can afford. It's all massively appreciated.

So i've done the 10K three times and last year I did the Great North Run, but now i'm going to really push myself. I'm going to run 72 miles in 6 months. I'll do this by running in two marathons, a half marathon and a 10K run.

I've registered to take part in the Dublin Marathon on the 25th October, and have entered in the ballot for the 2011 London Marathon. If I don't get a place in the London Marathon i'll enter an alternative marathon for around the same time.

I'm going to also enter the Wilmslow Half Marathon which takes place at the end of the March 2011 and the Mizuno Trafford 10K which takes place in February 2011.

I'm going to put myself through all of this to raise £5,000 for the Manchester Million Fund at The Christie in memory of my Father 'Marcello Giannini' who sadly passed away in 2007 after a 4 year battle with Prostate Cancer.

My Dad used to be an active Marathon runner so it only seems fitting that I take after him. The Manchester Million Fund raises much needed funds into the study and treatment of male related cancers at The Christie. The Christie is one of Europe's leading cancer treatment centres, and it's on my doorstep... Not only that, but I work for them, so there is no where else that I would want to raise funds for, and no better cause than the Manchester Million.

I'll be putting on fundraising events throughout 2010 and up to my final run in 2011 to help me reach my £5,000 target.

Please dig deep, all donations no matter how much are greatly appreciated.
