Story
Jack and Cherry are both rescue's, both aged ten. Cherry was abused and took many years to get over her nervousness. Jack was a gundog and was rehomed to us when he went blind. Both dogs enjoy their lives as much now as when they were younger and have many adventures together, from walking over suspension bridges, to riding on boats, trains and open topped buses!
They go on group walks, camping trips and stay in hotels and have made some wonderful memories for our family and friends.
Older dogs are not ready to be written off, which is why we support the Oldies Club, doing a fantastic job of finding homes for those dogs who have reached their middle ages. They all deserve a kind and loving forever home, but also need the funds to continue with the good work and pay for the vet's bills, which can reach thousands of pounds!
Jack, Cherry, Keith and Margaret are undertaking a "Life in the old dog yet!" One day challenge comprising of a hike up Beacon Hill in Leicestershire (814 ft), followed by a walk round Melton Country Park, (with a few retrieves thrown in just for fun), to prove that there certainly is life in the old dogs.
The challenge will take place on the morning of Saturday July 28th, to hike to the top, then a short rest in the car while travelling to Melton for the walk.
Thank you for your donations. xxx
