Story

The Margins Project is  based in Union Chapel in North London. We support people experiencing homelessness, mental health issues, isolation and crisis.

Union Chapel is an award winning music venue and Margins runs the
café serving food to the concert goers. We offer a 3 month paid catering training programme to marginalised people. Typically we work with
the homeless, ex-offenders and those who are taking steps to overcome mental health issues. The programme focuses on improving well-being, building self-esteem and developing
employability skills. On completion of the programme we help the trainees transition into paid work or further training.

Margins runs two mid week crisis drop-ins from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday is a women only drop-in whereas Wednesday is open to all. We offer food, a hot shower, referrals to other providers and advice from partners The Pilion Trust on housing and benefits who co-run the drop-in.

We run a winter night shelter from January to March where we offer overnight shelter, a nutritious meal and a hot breakfast for up to 17 guests.

As well as our crisis services we develop people's confidence and recover through art and framing groups, therapy, English classes and an employability programme.

We work closely with our clients and take the time to get to know
them recognising that they each have the potential to make positive changes.

Many thanks for your interest.
