23rd April - out of the marathon....for a year!!

I'm gutted. A trip to the physio yesterday and today i've had to let my charity know i won't be running this year. Good news is all the sponsorship money i've raised will be carried over until next year and i've deferred my place! Bad news is i have to endure another winter of running in the wind and rain - great!

Thanks again for your support....

April 10

It's now 2 weeks to go, and I can't back out - what have I done?? I've got to say i don't think i'll ever put my body or more specifically my left ankle and left knee through this again!! I'm currently "resting" as together with the tendonitis I've now damaged my ligaments in my knee - oops! I thought i would be good at 'resting' but never realised how stressy it would be hearing everyone else talk abut how far they've run, when i'm going into the marathon having only run 16 miles.

So it's cycling and strengthening exercises for me and carb loading - which i do really well!! In case you're thinking i might pull out - really, there is no way I will! Not gone through all this for nothing. And with about 15 friends coming up to London to support me, am sure that will push me to the finish!

So thanks again for all your support.....keep your fingers crossed

I am now a few months into training and I have finally made the 14 mile mark!! I'm starting to think it might be possible - although I am touching wood as I say it. Got to say it hasn't been easy, and I'm not loving running yet.......even resorted to some hypnotherapy for some positive thoughts about running - found myself continually going through all your names as i was running, thinking who would like to take my place?! Now, instead of my negative thoughts, I have Queen "don't stop me now" popping into my head all the time - I'm not sure what's worse!!

Thanks for sponsoring me

November 09

As I'm writing this it's a dark and very windy Friday night in Brighton and I'm just trying to psych myself up for a run. Apparently it's all in the training and I need to get past 4 miles this week but the pub seems so much more inviting! I have to keep reminding myself what a great challenge it will be, and how much your donations will help the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation and people living with Type 1 diabetes.

My auntie has Type 1 diabetes, not many people realise it's a chronic, life threatening condition. People diagnosed with it rely on numerous insulin injections or pump infusions every day, just to stay alive. The aim of JDRF is to find the cure for type 1 diabetes and its complications through the support of research, therefore the money you donate or help raise will be used efficiently and effectively to fund the very best research available. If you want to learn more about JDRF then visit their website www.jdrf.org.uk

So thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page and your donation......and if you want a good laugh come and cheer me on on marathon day!

Thanks

Marie
