As you all may know from my erratic Facebook posts, I have been training for the Edinburgh marathon 10K which takes place on Saturday 26th May 2012.

Last year was a tough year for my family. Losing our much loved Dad so suddenly from a rare and aggressive form of cancer was such a shock for us all and one that will take a really long time to come to terms with.

Running has helped me regain some focus and has helps clear my head when things are tough. Its quite funny really as Dad and I sometime attempted a "run" along our favorite beach, Peasebay and we used to laugh at how rubbish we were.

I think he would be proud if he could see me know- actually enjoying running and achieving some OK distances.

If I can do this 10K and along the way raise some much needed funds for Macmillan I will be really pleased.

MacMillan really do help people in their time of need, both the patient and their families when you feel there is no where left to turn. Their caring and empathetic approach really did help us when we were all so confused and frightened.

I'll keeep you posted with my progress and your support either moral or financial will help me achieve this goal. And who knows- might be the half marathon next time!
