Royal Parks Half Marathon 2008 · 12 October 2008 ·

Massive habitat loss over the past 100 years has wiped out 50% of Asia's wild elephant population, along with the vital ecosystems they used to support. Elephant Family exists to save this iconic animal from extinction by securing vital habitat and reducing conflict with local communities.

Story

The Asian elephant, unlike the African elephant, is highly endangered - only about 35,00o are left in the wild. Experts predict that in 50 years time there may be no viable populations remaining in the wild.  For the last year I have been working for elephant family and have seen the difference that a small number of people can make to these amazing creatures first hand. By conserving these elephants you are also ensuring the survival of other species and the forests in which they inhabit.

Saving the Asian elephant from extinction is no easy feat but with the help of people like you we are a step closer to making it a reality.  On Sunday 12th October we will be running the Royal Parks Half marathon to help raise funds that will go directly to our projects in the field .  Any donation that you can make would be so greatly appreciated.

On behalf of Asia's elephants and myself a very big thank you!
