Story
Thanks for visiting my fundraising page.
I have trekked the Great Wall! I returned last night (October 18) after a 9 day trip. Thanks to all my sponsors, my fund raising target has been exceeded. As you can see from my T-shirt, Andrew my nephew accompanied me up the Great Wall on day 2. The trek was a celebration of the life of my nephew Andrew Shennan who died of Leukaemia in June of last year and to raise funds for LINC.
I started my fundraising at the beginning of January by mailing and e-mailing my friends and family to let them know what I was doing. That produced a very positive response.
In February, I had a wine and cheese evening which went well and added to the coffers. At Easter, there was raffle at work for a basket of Easter goodies including a Lindt chocolate bunny of course.
Rachel, Karen and Jill baked cakes regularly and sold slices to their work mates for 50p each. To stop us getting too fat we sold plants as well!
Carol had the bright idea (in her sleep) of a handbag swap which raised £92.50 when it was held in April. I attended another trekker's jumble sale in May and raised another £75 from odds and ends.
Afternoon tea in Maria and Alan's wonderful garden overlooking the Malvern Hills was a happy fund raising event. It was a wonderful sunny day. What wonderful, supportive friends I have. Bernard Taylor kept me company on some great training walks - we only get lost once per walk which is excellent.
It is not too late to donate to the cause. This page will stay open until the end of the year.
Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It's also the most efficient way to sponsor me. As a result, LINC, The Leukaemia And Intensive Chemotherapy Fund gets your money faster and, if you're a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
Love Marilyn
