Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

In June 2016 part of my family's lives were changed forever when my cousin Thom was diagnosed with a brain tumour at the age of 28.  We have discovered that advances in the treatment of brain cancers lag a long way behind that of other forms of the disease.  By raising funds for this charity, research in to better treatments and support for sufferers will be enhanced.

So far, my uncle, Peter (Thom's Dad) and his friend Steve have completed Une balade a velo (a bike ride) from Hailsham, East Sussex to Gournay en Bray, Normandy, and back.  My aunt, Kay (Thom's Mum) and a group of her friends have completed a sponsored walk across the Seven Sisters and Beachy Head.

Now, I am taking up the reigns from the family by putting myself through the rigours of training and running a Marathon.

A Marathon is not just the 26.2 miles of the actual race day, it is a culmination of hundreds of miles and hours of training over a long period, 50 weeks in my case. I am aiming to run 500 miles by the time I reach the finish line. Follow my blog for weekly updates.

This challenge, I happily set myself in order to help raise awareness and much needed donations to this fantastic charity. It is also my way of showing my love and support to Thom, his wife, his sister and Mum and Dad.

Please take time to visit The Brain Tumour Charities' website to see first hand some of the fantastic work they do.
