It has been a long time since we first decided to complete a sponsorship event like this but finally it is fast approaching, we are both very excited about the prospect of cycling in Brazil but equally terrified given the fact that neither of us are fitness fanatics.  After a grueling 18 hours spent in the air we will begin our cycling adventure, by the end of which we will have cycled over 200 miles, about the same distance as Belfast to Dublin and back again.

 Please note that due to the recent terror threats at uk airports and the cancelation of flights the date of this event has changed to May 2007.

World Cup Sweepstakes

Along with the help of our friends we are selling World Cup Sweepstakes for £2 per entry, if you havent bought one yet be warned we are only selling until Thursday 15th June.  

Pub Quiz Number 2

Last night(Thursday 8th June) we had another fun pub quiz night at Madisons, raising a further £233 towards our fundraising target.  Prizes were kindly donated by The Stove (Dromara), Bass Ireland, Gorgeous Hair(Bangor), Xtravision, Railway Preservation Society of Ireland and Jimmy Pollock.  Madisons supplied the room free of charge so a big thanks to them. Thanks to Sam Simpson who again hosted the evening.

 

Sponsored Walk: Bangor to Crawfordsburn

 

On Sunday 4th June 11 of us participated in a sponsored walk from Pickie Fun Park to Crawfordsburn Counrty Park, where we celebrated with a  barbeque and footie. Thanks to all the participants, especially the children who are between the ages of 3 and 10.

Pub Quiz number 1

On 03/05/06 we held a pub quiz in Madisons Hotel, Botanic Avenue which raised over £300.  The quiz was hosted by Sam Simpson (we couldnt have done it without him!) The winning team (Jim & Anona Campbell and Maurice & Beatrice Jennings) kindly donated their prize of £40 Botanic Inns vouchers to the rest of the participants in the quiz  and the first people at the bar got a free drink!  

Raffle prizes were won by: Victoria Nelson, Tracey Gibson, Ross Campbell, Alan Simpson and Caroline.

Other Fundraising has included:car boot sales, barbecues, raffles and donations from individual friends and family members.

There are many charities out there operating events like the Brazil Bike Ride, however we choose to support Mencap because of the important work they do throughout Northern Ireland and in particular our home town of Belfast.
