Mark and Zak, from Sawley Marina, will be pulling on their walking boots in July 2009 when they tackle the biggest physical and mental challenge of their life and take on climbing the UK's highest mountains in a bid to raise funds for the Meningitis Trust.
The Three Peaks Challenge, for which participants have to raise a minimum amount of sponsorship, will see the guys tackle the heights of Snowdon in Wales (1085 metres), Scafell Pike in England (the baby of the challenge at just 977 metres - although they will climb this one in the dark!!) and Ben Nevis in Scotland, the UK's highest mountain at 1344 metres all in just 36 hours!!
Mark says: "Meningitis is a devastating disease that can strike anyone at any age without warning. The signs are often difficult to spot because early on they can be like those of colds and flu. Knowing the symptons not only saves lives but can also help prevent the debilitating after-effects that meningitis can cause. We want to tackle this challenge and raise money to help the Meningitis Trust so that they are able to provide long-term emotional and practical support to those affected by meningitis. Taking part in the Three Peaks Challenge will be an incredible experience and a great way to make a difference!"
