Hi everyone! Thank you for visiting my marathon fundraising page.

It's now been almost 5 months since I decided to run this year's Flora London Marathon and, I must admit, there have been days when I've regretted that decision! February's snow didn't help, and I've also been having a few troubles with my hip (must be my age!). Anyway, I'm now back on track with a new pair of trainers, a plethora of physio exercises and a few preparation races under my belt. In between exams and coursework I'm managing about 70 miles a week and starting to feel as though this marathon may actually be possible.

So you've heard about my commitment, and I can sense you're already reaching for your wallets, but let me first tell you the main reason I'm doing this run and who all the hard-work is in aid of. It's for a charity called Climb, which does fantastic work for children living with Inherited Metabolic Diseases. During our time at Birmingham Children's Hospital, Emma and I came across many kids suffering from such conditions. They often spend much of their childhood in-and-out of hospital, many having severe physical disabilities and a shortened life expectancy. Climb is invaluable in supporting these children and their families living with such difficult conditions and rely heavily on charitable donations from the likes of you. If you would like to know more about the charity, please visit www.climb.org.uk.

It's now time to dig deep and donate generously for a very worthy cause. I'll keep you updated on my marathon progress and let you know how it all goes on the big day, April 26th!

Thank you again for your support.

Mark
