Lisbon Half Marathon · 10 March 2009

The Sickle Cell Society is the only national charity in the UK that supports and represents people affected by sickle cell disease to improve their overall quality of life. We provide information, advice, advocacy, respite, support services, hold talks, patient education seminars and training.

Story

I'm running the Lisbon Half Marathon on March 22nd and am happy to accept sponsorship in the memory of Yemi Ogundoyin.

I didn't know him, but as his friends say he was the sort of guy who often made kind, thoughtful gestures to complete strangers, and I would like to make a gesture to honour his life. He was tragically killed in a car accident in January. The 23rd would have been his birthday, and there's going to be a party and fundraiser to celebrate his memory on March 21st:

Money all goes to the Sickle Cell Society, a charity that Yemi supported.

When you're all partying I'll be eating pasta and having an early night.

Give any amount you can afford - it all goes to a good cause. Don't have that last pint tonight (you know you don't need it) - donate £3 instead.

I'm hoping to complete the run in under 2 hours.
Wish me luck
