Story

I’m very pleased to say that on Sunday 26th April 2009 I finished the final “Flora” London Marathon (FLM) in a time of 3 hours 54 minutes and 24 seconds.

It was an extremely hot day to be marathon running and I found the conditions very difficult, especially between miles 20 & 24 – I think I hit the infamous wall!!

The overall FLM was fantastic and I’ve never seen support like it around the course, it was 6, 7 deep in places.  On the day I received the support of my family, Julie, Charlotte & Elise, along with Julie’s Aunty Jackie who gave me lodgings for the weekend and fed me lots of pasta.  It was especially good to also see my Aunty Pat, Uncle John, cousin Tim and Jo with their children Megan  (my other cousins daughter Lilly May) and most of all Josh who also made the trip to complete the support – A big thank you from the bottom of my heart !

As a write this, my legs are hurting but the pain is eased by the grin of the experience and the thought that we have all helped raise money for Child Brain Injury Trust (CBIT).

Thank you to all who have made a contribution and supported me throughout, you know who you are.

Thank you also to Rachel Ritter and the CBIT team for their help and support.

I’m now going to take a couple of weeks rest and have no further marathon plans just yet – but never say never!!

Thanks all.
