The Mark Jane Fund (Please scroll to end page for fundraising events/updates) This is a Remembrance Fund set up by Mark's family and work colleagues to pay a living and lasting memorial to Mark. I am Mark's friend and Manager and have had the good fortune and pleasure to work with him for the last eleven years. I asked Mark's partner Sharon and children if they would like help in setting up a Remembrance Fund for Mark and they agreed it would be a great tribute to Mark. Mark was 43 years old and sadly passed away on 25th June 2007. Mark was cared for by the staff at UCH Hospital and the National Hospital at Queens Square since the time he was diagnosed with a brain tumour. His family would like to thank all the staff involved in Mark's care. The family helped start the fund by requesting family flowers at Marks funeral, with donations in lieu. To date I have received many postal donations from his friends and colleagues and would like to thank everyone who has donated via this route. Mark was a loyal family man who was open about his love for his partner Sharon and his children Leigh and Lauren. He liked the simple pleasures in life, a nice cup of tea, a well cooked full English breakfast, the seaside, a night in watching a film, cinema, a relaxing day fishing, all music but particularly Queen, watching the footie and other sports. Mark was an avid support of Chelsea FC... He was fascinated and knowledgeable about all things sci-fi and astronomy and loved his model space craft "Nostromo" which had prime position on his desk alongside his Chelsea FC mascot. Mark was a great bloke. He worked as Deputy Manager at a large doctor's out of hours service based in central london. He worked extremely hard in his job, was a loyal colleague and good friend. He had a great sense of humour and could make us all laugh however fed-up or tired we were. He was able to show kindness and empathy to his staff and colleagues and was a fantastic support to everyone. We will all deeply miss him but have wonderful personal memories of him. I would like to thank everyone that has contributed to this fund by other means. We hope we can continue fundraising by encouraging friends and colleagues to volunteer for charity events in aid of Mark's Fund. Conan O'Neill one of Mark's colleagues has now been awarded a place to run in this year's London Marathon on behalf of Mark's Remembrance Fund and the Brain Research Trust. Please give generously so we can continue fundraising in Mark's memory. - See the link to Conan's page or altneratively if you donate via Marks' page it will count towards the £2,000 minimum sponsorship we need to raise for Conan's marathon place... www.justgiving.co.uk/conanoneill Thank you for visiting Mark's Remembrance page. We know Mark would have been proud to have such a worthwhile fund set up in his honour and memory.
Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to donate: Brain Research Trust will receive your money electronically and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in Gift Aid will be added to your donation at no cost to you.
