Marlow 5 · 22 February 2009

RoadPeace is the national charity for road crash victims. We provide practical and emotional support to victims through a helpline, befriender network, and information guides on the legal procedures that follow a crash. RoadPeace also campaigns for justice for victims and road danger reduction policies that champion the needs of vulnerable road users. RoadPeace won the Guardian Charity Award winners in 2008. Help us make the world a safer and fairer place.

Story

Well for those of you who know me, you will know the only time i run is either for the last train or for last orders. The Marlow 5 is a marathon around Marlow, its 5 miles in all.. I have never ran that far on the road so its going to be a massive challenge to get a decent time.

Just over 4 years ago my mum Sue Hillman was killed in a car accident, its something you think you can never get over. I had great support from friends, family and road peace during this hard time. I will always miss my wonderful Mum and decided i owe her something.. so here we are!! I'm sure she will be watching...

I am also running this for my friend Dave Lee (Polish Dave) who also died in a road accident in 2007, a great bloke who is truly missed by his firends and family. Dave had a sense of humour that i will never forget and neither will all his friends, a real top guy who was cheated of life so early - RIP Mate!!

So many people die each year in car accidents, its all about the support to help cope with it. It happened to Ray Jones of QPR, such a talent, such a waste. RIP Ray

So guys, i hope you can dig deep, i will be their come rain or shine, it means a lot to me and its not something i will do every year. To some of you i know it isn't far, but to me it's like running the London Marathon!!
