This year I have two major celebrations - the 11 year anniversary of Sunflower Trust Childrens Charity and my 60th birthday! I have set myself the challenge to complete the 26.2 miles required to run the 2007 New York Marathon on 4th November, which has been called one of the most challenging physical and mental feats a man, particularly one of my age, can accomplish! I aim to raise a minimum of £10,000 for the Sunflower Trust's Assisted Funding Programme committed to maximising health, fitness and achievement of children who are disadvantaged and excluded from leading a normal school or family life through ill-health, learning or behavioural difficulties.
“The Sunflower Trust appears to be properly conducted and constituted with wide committee representation. It is actively supported by a network of past patients/parents who feel that the treatment should be much more widely available to enable children to develop to their full potential.” Dr Janine Leach, Senior Researcher, University of Brighton I hope my thousands of hours training and dedication will help transform the lives at least 10 children in the UK which will have a positive impact on life at school, home and society as a whole. “Education and attainments matter more than ever before: we should do all we can to ensure that young people grow up with skills and a sense of confidence.” The Rt Hon Virginia Bottomley supporting Sunflower Trust Research Programme As any of the 700,000 past participants would contest, crossing the finish line in Central Park is one of the great thrills of a lifetime. Your help and support will be vital to spur me on. Thank you for visiting my fundraising page. Please dig deep and sponsor me online.
