Story
A brief history to why I am going to do something like this. Essentially I am up for a challenge and the opportunity to do the Scarborough 10K road race came up and I thought would encourage some friends to get involved and do it. As part of my encouragement I also ended up saying I would do it.
With less than 22 days until I am actually running this event and no training having taken place (apart from a trail run of the course the other day, which nearly resulted in me being given a Darwin Award) I have now decided to do this, take it seirously, and put in a decent effort.
I will be doing regular training, I have had a goal time of 1 hour to complete the 10K on the day and so I am looking to that as my focus.
The reason behind my choice of charity is a simple choice, my family lost a great man to Myeloma, Grandad John Kane, even when he was diagnoised and was being put through a gruelling treatment, he never complained. The Doctors were taken aback by how widespread his condition was at diagonsis and said that the sheer pain he must have been experiencing on a regular basis must have been excruciating! So, this is for grandad, always a man you'd look up to and want to be like!
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
So please dig deep and donate now, this is utter madness on my behalf as I never run, anywhere (except to work when late!), but I am up for the challenge!
